Gloss // Learn by reading

Learn Spanish by
reading real books.

Reading builds a vocabulary faster than any word list — until every other sentence sends you to a dictionary. Gloss keeps you on the page: tap a word for what it means, and the ones worth keeping become review games.

Nothing here is a generic word list. Every round is built from the units you bookmarked — the same phrases, in the same book, with the same audio. Ten games across matching, building and listening, so a word gets tested from every angle.

Why reading works

You didn't learn your first
language from a word list.

01

Context does the teaching

A word sitting in a sentence tells you what it means, how formal it is, and what it usually travels with. A dictionary entry gives you five meanings and leaves the choosing to you — which is the part you can't do yet.

02

A novel repeats itself for you

Books reuse their own vocabulary. The word you looked up in chapter one comes back in chapter four, then chapter nine, spaced out across a story you're following anyway. That's the review schedule, built in.

03

The story pulls you back

Narrative is the one study habit that maintains itself. A streak needs defending; a good book just needs finishing. Wanting the next chapter does more for your Spanish than discipline ever will.

So what's been stopping you

Friction. Reading in a language you're learning means stopping every few lines — switch apps, type the word, get a list of meanings that don't quite fit, lose the thread, and forget the word by the next page anyway. The reading was never the problem. Everything around it was.
